2022 October 10 Road Update

Monday, October 10, 2022, we are finally paving Fox Glen and Bridle Pass.  Today’s goal is to complete the first of two layers.  This is a two-and-a-half-inch layer of asphalt that is compressed and should allow us to drive on it by Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

We will leave the barriers up overnight to avoid driving on the roads.  Please remember to drive at your own risk.  If oil stains end up on your driveway, that is the co-owner responsibility to remove them.  We do understand some pass-through traffic is occurring and we plan to have the yellow barriers placed on the two houses on Fox Glen from Ellsworth (Patti and Nick’s houses).

We have been told that once this asphalt sets overnight due to the cool weather, we can drive on it.  The last layer is the one we need to avoid driving on for at least 24 hours.  When will this last layer be laid?  This is yet to be determined.

Due to the imminent rain this week, it appears we will not receive our last layer until Nagle can fit us back into their schedule.  The new date could be the end of this week or the new date could be more than a month from now.

Questions

  1. Does this mean we cannot drive on the roads until they pave the top coat?
    1. No.  Once this bottom first layer is set after 24 hours, we can drive on it.
  2. What if a heavy truck like the garbage truck comes through on the bottom layer?
    1. Nagle indicated that we should be fine after the initial curing.
    2. If there are any damages, they will fix it before they lay the top coat.
  3. Will the garbage truck come through this week?
    1. We believe they will.
    2. Garbage and Recycling are planned for Thursday, October 13.
  4. When will we know the date of the final top coat?
    1. As soon as Nagle schedules and lets our site manager know, they will let us know.
  5. Can we park on Fox Glen and Bridle pass tonight, Monday, October 10th?
    1. The preference is that we stay off of it.  Will the road be damaged if people do?  Nagle says “probably not”.
    2. At close to $6000 a house to repave the roads, let’s be safe rather than sorry.

Thank you for your patience as we are so close to being done with this project.
