A Note from Commissioner Sanders
Hello District 4,
I am writing to you today to inform you of an upcoming Q & A session concerning the Ann Arbor Airport Extension. Community members are invited to attend and learn more about the recent lawsuit and other updates.
WHAT: Special Q & A session on Ann Arbor Airport Extension
WHEN: Monday, August 19th, 7 pm
WHERE: Morris Hall at the Pittsfield Township Administration Building, 6201 W. Michigan Avenue
WHO IS INVITED: Anyone in the community opposed to the expansion of Ann Arbor Municipal Airport. Everyone is welcome! It will be a tremendous opportunity to get updated on this dangerous airport expansion proposal and our battle against it.
PRESENTER: Long-time research leader, Andy McGill, will lead the session — beginning with a brief presentation, followed by responses to and discussions on all of your questions.
WHY NOW: As has been done at key milestones throughout the 15-year process of fighting the airport expansion, when there have been lots of questions or uncertainty about what’s going on, researchers have responded by clarifying matters publicly.
BACKGROUND: Pittsfield Township and the Committee for Preserving Community Quality last week filed a federal court lawsuit against the Michigan Department of Transportation and the City of Ann Arbor to block the expansion of the primary runway at Ann Arbor Municipal Airport. Many have asked questions about the suit itself and the separate appeal to block the Environmental Assessment, about the forthcoming vote by the Ann Arbor City Council to hire a contractor to begin preliminary planning and design work on an expanded runway, and the runway expansion in general.
I hope to see some of you there.
Thank you,
Commissioner Caroline Sanders
