class="crycon-right-dir">

Garrett Landscaping is here Monday May 17 and Tuesday May 18, 2021 to mulch all the front yard deciduous trees. As a reminder, if you have pavers around the front yard tree, these will be removed and placed on your sidewalk/driveway. If you have plants, you are to remove them and hold them until after the mulching. If you choose to plant the flowers back into the mulch ring, you must not disturb the sizing of the mulch ring nor plant them close the the flare of the tree.

First, for those who do not want to remove the plants and relocate them, the perennial plants such as irises and day lilies will be removed and placed on your sidewalk/driveway. You can relocate these into other parts of your garden. If you have irises and hostas you don’t want to relocate, please contact Dorothy at Dorothyyli@comcast.net as she will be happy to take orphaned irises and hostas.

Second, you may notice that the mulch will NOT be covered up to the tree trunk. This is intentional and should be left this way. Do NOT fill the gap with dirt or mulch. Do NOT plant flowers right next to the tree trunk. This is to ensure the health of the tree flare and roots. We understand that in a forest trees and flowers grow wherever they want. Our yards are not a forest and we are complying with a tree specialist to ensure our trees stay healthy, continue to grow and stay for a long time.

Third, as a reminder, Dorothy Li is the project manager from our co-owners overseeing the tree beautification project. You will see Dorothy walking through the yards to take pictures after our services have been completed. If you have questions, contact us at board@foxglenassociation.org. Dorothy will receive questions from the Fox Glen Board.

Fourth, the future plans for our public area trees and the individual yard conifer trees are in the plans for year 2022. This is a multi-phased project. Once our existing trees are all taken care of, we will move to the next phase which is to have a tree and landscape expert recommend where we can add new trees.

Lastly, our care of the existing trees is not a one-shot deal. With the mulching in place, this will need to be refreshed in all the common areas every 2 to 3 years. We pay for this maintenance through our dues. We ask the co-owners not to mulch the common areas trees themselves or change the mulch ring. If you have questions, please contact the board at board@foxglenassociation.org.

<post-id
