• Nick’s house does not have a border so the hose has to be attached and put away each time.
• Next to his house by the pine trees is a blue milk carton with the hose.
• The hose goes 100 Feet – but it only does this if the water is on and expanding the hose.
  • Do not try to pull the hose all the way over to the entrance and then turn on the water, it won’t work.
  • Take the hose out of the crate and it should not tangle.
  • Hook up the hose and let the water fill, then pull it to the entrance.
  • Turn off the water when done, and let the water drain out of the hose and it will auto shrink enough to easily pick up and toss back into the milk crate.
• There is a quick release attachment – If you push the bottom part (Female Part) attached to the Spigot upwards, it will allow you to insert the Male Part on the hose to it.
  
  From there, let the little black ring (female part) slide down and you will hear a click.  The same action will allow the release after you are done watering.

  Do not try to detach if the hose isn’t drained of water.  You will be sprayed.

Rodeo entrance

• At Joan’s house (last one on the corner) the set up is the same except we don’t need to remove the hose.  We can leave it on.
• Water all the plants.  Mulch has been put down on Monday so it should really highlight all the new plants.
• The trees do not need to be watered.
• Make sure after you turn off the water, to drain the hose.  This way it will shrink and easily fit into the milk cartoon

Recording the watering

• Return back to the SmartSheets – FGHOA Entrance Watering
• Select the Watering Status Update Filter
• Find your name and date then select the Watered Status field and enter in comments if you like.
  • Comments are OPTIONAL.
  • There are 4 options to select for the Watered Status.
  • If it rains the day before your watering OR the day of watering, then don’t water.  Just select the status of Rained.

We understand the frustration of our lawn mowing service struggling to keep up with our grass.  We expect them to come every Wednesdays and mow all our area, not just some.  Thank you to everyone who logged a ticket using our new software system – Report a Problem or Request a Work Order.  This helps use an automated system to tally and keep track of requests, concerns, and/or problems.  We have been providing your feedback directly to Garrett.  Garret should be back on track with their usual schedule.  The last month has been difficult for them as our Property Management shared the following regarding the mowing company.

• They had several people down with covid
• Two of their lawn mowing machines required fixing that took longer than expected
• The rain interfering with their mowing days

We understand that these three points are “not our problem”. During these uncertain times as we come out of our pandemic, the Board is trying its best to be empathetic to our vendors whilst balancing our community’s needs.  We will keep you posted with what we learn.

Entrance Watering Update

Thank you to all the volunteers who signed up to help keep our Entrance plantings alive until we have the money to install the drip sprinklers.  We are signed up through the first 2 weeks in July and the last week in July.  If you are interested in signing up, please read this post – https://foxglenassociation.org/fox-glen-front-entrance-watering-situation-and-a-call-for-help.  Please note, you will NOT have to cart water to the entrances.  We have a set up with the closest neighbor to the entrance to make watering an easy 20 minute experience per entrance.  Those who sign up will receive additional instructions as well as two less than 5 seconds tutorials on how to use the quick release hose connector.

Why we are asking

• To save on costs
  • Installing dedicated sprinklers for the Ellsworth and Lohr entrances beds is deferred until 2024 due to road construction expense
  • Herbal Thymes is roughly $100 a visit to water flowers
• To help maintain our front entrance curb appeal

What is entailed?

• Connect a hose we provide to the water spigot of specific co-owner homes, for which they have graciously given their permission again this season
• Water the plants for 15 minutes
• Log you completed the watering for your signed-up date and entrance

Additional Points

After 20 years, we finally switched to all perennial plants to save us  $1000 to $1200 a year in annual flowers that have to be replaced every year.  The perennials will take roughly 3 years to grow into a lush garden if we all pitch in together to help keep it watered and thriving.  If any of the plants die this first year and we can prove we watered consistently, they are warranted and will be replaced at no cost.

What did we do in years past?

• Paid Herbal Thymes to keep the plants watered
• 2 board members tirelessly watered the plants all by themselves with the help of 1 or 2 neighbors
• Prayed for rain

How do I sign up?

Click on the signup sheet →HERE←.

This is what you should see.  The filter highlighted in YELLOW “Open Watering Slots” will let you see which slots are still open for sign-up.  If the filter is not defaulted, no worries, just click the little arrow next to the filter and it will show you the option to select Open Watering Slots.

1. Put your full name – First and Last name in the Name column
2. Put your email contact in the second column, Email Contact
3. Remember to click the save button at the top left, under the word File

You will see 2 additional columns highlighted.  These are the Dates you are selecting and the entrance you will water.  You will not be able to change or edit either one of those columns.

How will I see what I signed up for?

1. You can click directly to see this Dashboard – Fox Glen Association Entrance Watering Calendar.
2. When you sign up, you will automatically be notified of the dates and entrance you signed up on.  It will go to the email address you provided.
3. A reminder will be sent to the email you provided 1 day prior to the date you signed up for.  It will tell you both the entrance and the date you will be watering.
